The Monologue
I love my job! For a long time, a clever (or so I thought) combination of these words served as the password to most of the online destinations I frequented. I do love what I do. But am I good at it? Haven’t been told otherwise; yet!
I am seasoned brand strategist by profession and an entrepreneur by choice. My most recent entrepreneurial sprint was called the Small Inc. A marketing agency based out of New Delhi India, it was a business that we built from scratch, scaled up to cross 1.5Cr in annual revenue, locked horns with some of the better-known agencies in the city and thrived and one fine day, succumbed under our own expectations. How it came to be, is a story for another post, perhaps.
So Why so Reluctant?
Most of the times when I am briefed to work on a brand or business strategy, I curl & die a little inside. Having known that many hours of hard work is going to go down the drain. Why? Because most of the brands (Brand Managers) would fail to understand or implement it. It will be just another presentation making rounds during management meetings, twisted, stripped and held back for years, until the landscape changes & it becomes irrelevant.
I believe the brands need to move away from the mindset of creating brand strategies & annual planners and start tackling the basics. I believe, I can help set up the context.
Why reluctant strategist?
Have been trying to find a medium to voice my opinions & experiences. Having a blog made sense – writing helps me unify my thoughts & keep the spark alive in the midst of all the S**T that goes around in circles. It’s like having a safe haven for ideas, thoughts and even those random spurs of creativity.
So yes, I am doing it for myself. But it is also for you, but not so much if you check any of the boxes below:
- If you come to the blog for listicles and entertainment. I think, it will be a heavy-read.
- If you think you will find a magical cure to Cancer (read marketing). Unicorns do not exist my friend – besides in the start-up world.
- If you are here to judge, criticize and shove your POV up mine. Hey, it’s my blog after all.
- If other’s ideas and opinions make you uncomfortable and cringe.
I will try to publish content under the below-listed broad categories but the content will not necessarily be just about marketing, branding or business at large.

So, welcome one and all. Please feel free to comment, correct and add value, but all in good faith and taste. Good reading y’all!
